Why do I get “Error: Update installation was blocked, digital signature mismatch” when installing version 2.6?¶
During installation a Service is created to automate the process of installing updates. This service runs once per day at 10 am to check ADAM Technology’s server for an update.
If an update is found, the Updater will offer to download it and upgrade your installation automatically:

As a security feature, this service checks that the new installation was signed with a Code Signing Certificate that has the same name as the current installation to ensure that the update was authored by ADAM Technology and isn’t somehow being used by third parties to install unauthorised software.
Starting with version 2.5.0 Build 1869, the name on ADAM’s Code Signing Certificate was changed from “Advanced Design And Manufacturing Pty Ltd” to “ADAM Technology”.
This confused the Updater, making it think the update was not from ADAM Technology, resulting in the error message shown.
The solution is to download the update manually from ADAM’s Updates page, as explained in red in the update message.
If you have already used the updater to download the update, you can also install it manually by using Explorer to browse to the %PROGRAMDATA%\ADAM Technology\[Product name]\Updates\Update
folder and double-clicking on the msi found there. For example, for 3DM Analyst Mine Mapping Suite, the folder would be %PROGRAMDATA%\ADAM Technology\3DM Analyst Mine Mapping Suite
2.6\Updates\Update
. (%PROGRAMDATA%
will automatically expand to the actual name of the folder on your PC, e.g. C:\ProgramData\
.)
Unfortunately, due to another change in the name that was required when upgrading our Code Signing Certificate to an Extended Validation (EV) Code Signing Certificate, updates after 2.6.3 will not automatically install on installations of 2.6.3 or earlier for the same reason. (Why can’t I use the automatic update installer to update from versions prior to 2.6.3 to later versions?)
