How do I generate a C2V file?

This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to create a key status file (C2V — “Customer to Vendor”) to send to ADAM Technology to confirm an update has been applied or to allow us to generate a new update without regard to what updates have previously been installed.

It will show how to create the file using two different methods: The ADAM Licence Editor, and Sentinel’s Admin Control Center.

Method 1: Using ADAM Licence Editor

The ADAM Licence Editor is the easier option if you already have the software installed, because it is included as part of the installation. It can also be downloaded from our website.

  1. Remove all the dongles plugged in to your PC or laptop, and only plug in the ADAM Technology dongle in the USB port that you wish to create the C2V file for. (If removing dongles is a problem — say, because you wish to update a network dongle in a network server that has other network dongles installed — then see Method 2: Using Admin Control Center below.)

  2. Run ADAM License Editor.

Welcome page of ADAM Licence Editor
  1. Click on “Collect Information” at the bottom left corner. A file save dialog will appear, allowing you to specify the filename for the C2V file.

  2. Make a note of where the C2V file was saved, and then send it to us via email.

Method 2: Using Admin Control Center

If you don’t have ADAM Licence Editor installed (e.g. because you have a network dongle plugged in to a network server that does not have ADAM’s software installed) then you can still update the dongle using the Admin Control Center that is automatically available on any computer that has the Sentinel dongle driver installed.

  1. If this is the first time you have used Admin Control Center to generate a C2V file, you will first need to configure the option by going to the Configuration page (http://localhost:1947/_int_/config.html), clicking the checkbox for “Generate C2V file for HASP key”, and then clicking “Submit”:

  1. Now visit the Sentinel Keys page (http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html) and you will see a new C2V download button under “Actions”. Click on this button in the row correspondig to the dongle you wish to update, and a file save dialog will appear, allowing you to specify the filename for the C2V file.
